About The Position

This is an apprentice role in ABQ Road Construction/Traffic Control. The apprentice will be responsible for responding to calls, maintaining equipment, performing inspections, managing inventory, loading equipment, navigating to job sites, setting up traffic control devices according to MUTCD guidelines, flagging traffic, coordinating with customers and employees, completing paperwork, and reporting unsafe conditions. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with customers, employees, and the public. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to respond to calls in a timely manner within 1 hour when on-call.
  • Ability to maintain all equipment in a safe and working condition.
  • Ability to perform pre-job inspections.
  • Ability to check inventory and inspect equipment needed for the job.
  • Ability to load all required equipment into the vehicle.
  • Ability to navigate safely to and from the office to job sites.
  • Ability to set up devices: cones, signs, barrels, barricades etc. on jobsites per MUTCD guidelines.
  • Ability to flag traffic to ensure safe work zone for customers, employees and traveling public.
  • Ability to coordinate with customers and employees ensuring a safe, efficient, and problem free service.
  • Ability to complete required paperwork, receipts, and time sheets on or before mandatory deadlines.
  • Ability to report and all unsafe conditions to supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) information to customers, employees, and the traveling public.
