About The Position

As an Apprentice, you will perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures in accordance with Oncor’s construction standards manuals. All tasks are carried out under the direction of others and with the approval of the supervising authority. Work involves conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages, utilizing approved protective equipment and tools. This on-site position will have an assigned service territory within the Oncor Electric Delivery Company market and will be based out of our Dallas Southwest Service Center.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL driver’s license is required.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to provide proof of successful lineman and safety training programs.
  • Demonstrate the skills needed to advance in the Oncor Lineman Training Program within a reasonable time frame commensurate with proven work experience and abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • 4 or more years of related distribution utility construction work experience is encouraged to apply.
  • Certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school is encouraged to apply.
  • Associate’s degree in electrical technology or a related field is encouraged to apply.
  • Live within 60 minutes of the service center, with 30 minutes or less preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures.
  • Work with conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages, utilizing approved protective equipment and tools.
  • Be on-call in the scheduled rotation; availability for overtime work and 24-hour call-out is required.
  • Travel outside your assigned district when needed.
  • Work off wood poles, insulated platforms, and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules.
  • Lift 75 pounds above your head on a regular basis.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct at all times and participate in local safety programs.
  • Learn and abide by Oncor’s Safety Handbook.
