About The Position

This is an Apprentice Welder position located in Phoenix, AZ, with an onsite, full-time, permanent work arrangement. The shift is from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Weir is a global leader in mining technology, focused on helping customers extract resources more efficiently and sustainably. The role involves participating in a Registered Apprenticeship Program that combines paid, supervised on-the-job training with classroom instruction through East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT). Apprentices will progressively develop welding and fabrication skills under the guidance of experienced journey-level employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to meet physical demands of fabrication and welding work
• Attending and completing all EVIT Related Technical Instruction (RTI) requirements

Responsibilities

• Participate in a Registered Apprenticeship Program combining paid, supervised on-the-job training with classroom instruction through East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT).
• Develop welding and fabrication skills progressively under direct supervision of qualified journey-level employees.
• Perform welding and fabrication tasks under supervision.
• Learn and apply approved welding processes, tools, and techniques.
• Follow structured on-the-job learning assignments aligned with apprenticeship standards.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Follow all shop safety rules.
• Maintain quality, housekeeping, and productivity expectations.
• Immediately report any safety concerns, incidents, or near misses.
• Participate in evaluations and skills assessments as required.
• Accept task assignments increasing in complexity as skills are demonstrated.
• Demonstrate 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors in support of developing a world-class safety culture.
