About The Position

Lee County is seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join its paid Apprenticeship Program within the Utilities and Facilities Construction & Management departments. This program offers a pathway to learn a skilled trade, earn a steady income, and begin a long-term career without incurring college debt. Full-time Apprenticeship positions are available in Electrical and HVAC. These roles are ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, wish to acquire valuable skills, and are ready to build their future with a major local employer. The program is a state-certified, 4-year training initiative that includes paid on-the-job learning and evening classes, allowing participants to learn from experienced professionals and establish a strong career path.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required by job offer date).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Learn names and uses of equipment used in the trade (Electrical/HVAC).
  • Learn how to select residential and commercial wiring materials (Electrical).
  • Learn how to load and unload tools and equipment.
  • Learn how to lay out outlets, switches, receptacles, and components using blueprints or supervisor direction (Electrical).
  • Learn how to pull wires, use fish tape, and prevent damage to conductors (Electrical).
  • Learn how to install service switches, load centers, and sub-feeders (Electrical).
  • Learn how to run raceways and pull in conductors with a qualified electrician or journeyman (Electrical).
  • Learn welding, soldering, and brazing (HVAC).
  • Learn to install and service compressors, thermostats, and pressure devices (HVAC).
  • Learn to work with piping systems and HVAC components (HVAC).
  • Assist in troubleshooting heating and cooling systems (HVAC).
  • Work safely and follow all Lee County rules.
  • Keep accurate training records.
  • Complete all required coursework.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • All County employees are required to work before, during, or after an emergency as needed, potentially performing duties outside of their normal scope.
