About The Position

Konecranes is seeking an Apprentice Technician for their GroundWatch program in Albany, GA. This entry-level position is designed to help individuals gain experience in maintaining a safe working environment for technicians working on cranes. The role offers opportunities to encounter new and challenging situations that will benefit an electrical background, all within a safety-first culture.

Requirements

  • Available for "on call" duties as part of the service office rotation.
  • Able to travel and work out of town on occasion.
  • Able to work off step ladders.
  • Able to climb fixed or step ladders.
  • Able to work from various types of lifts.
  • Able to wear and properly use full body harness fall protection equipment.
  • Able to wear canister type mask and/or self-contained breathing apparatus when required as personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Frequent lifting of parts and/or components weighing 10-20 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of parts and/or components weighing 30-50 pounds.
  • Infrequent lifting of parts and/or components weighing over 50 pounds.
  • Able to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Industrial Electricity, Electronic Engineering Technology or related field or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of all CSA, OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and other relevant industry codes or regulations, and be able to obtain specific regulations if requested.
  • Ensure the safety of Crane Technicians by identifying and mitigating any obstacles or safety risks during repairs.
  • Complete all required daily paperwork accurately and completely.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and image at all times.
  • Keep all company equipment and assets in proper working order and ensure they are neat and clean.
  • Maintain proper stock levels of inventory and line stock items on the service vehicle.
  • Be accountable for all company-issued tools, ladders, and inventory levels assigned.
  • Generate sales and service leads during service calls by identifying customer needs and level of interest to the appropriate personnel.
  • Develop a thorough working knowledge of service literature, service policies, and labor rates.
  • Provide customers with a "Safety Summary" detailing any safety items noticed during service visits and return a signed copy as evidence of notification.
  • Maintain regular communication with the local office as needed.
  • Complete a "Safety Audit" on limit switches and general crane operation before leaving the customer's premises.
