About The Position

Manage the direction and ensure the quality of the Kalitta Air's USDOL Approved Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Apprentice Program. Establish policies and procedures for the successful implementation of rules, work processes and completion of related training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in aviation maintenance, technical operations, or related field.
  • Ability to assess performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple trainers, tasks, and trainees simultaneously.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
  • The ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Apprentice Program Department processes.
  • Must identify any changes that will enhance departmental process quality and submit Maintenance Program Revision Requests for applicable policy and procedure changes.
  • Develop and maintain a training schedule that ensures apprentices receive all required training, including the latest Airman Certification Standards and Aviation Mechanic General, Airframe, and Powerplant Practical Test standards.
  • Maintain the Kalitta Air Apprentice Program Manual information.
  • Maintain a continuous interface with the maintenance & quality disciplines for the purpose of ensuring productivity and training concerns are addressed for assigned apprentices.
  • Ensure that adequate apprentice records are established and maintained.
  • Coordinate with the OJT Program and the Instruction/Development team to evaluate classroom instruction and practical skills measurements.
  • Coordinate with the Instruction/Development team to analyze apprentice courses for effectiveness and/or applicability to current regulatory, company, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Interface with USDOL, Michigan Works, FAA, and other local agencies in the establishment and compliance of apprentice services, grant funding and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the apprentice curriculum by creating and implementing measures to track alignment to objectives and track outcomes.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the Kalitta Air, LLC U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program and maintaining associated RAPIDS tracking system information.
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by the Director of Technical Training.
