About The Position
The Apprentice Plumber assists licensed plumbers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. The Apprentice works under direct supervision and is expected to learn state plumbing codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. This entry-level role provides structured on-the-job training and mentorship to build foundational plumbing skills and prepare the Apprentice for advancement toward Journeyman licensing in Texas.
Requirements
- Active Apprentice Plumber registration with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to use basic hand tools
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various environments (heights, confined spaces, outdoor conditions)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Dependable and punctual
- Willingness to follow direction and learn from experienced plumbers
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Nice To Haves
- 2 year of plumbing or construction experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Texas driver’s license preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with installation of water supply, drainage, and gas piping systems
- Help install plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, and water heaters
- Measure, cut, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools
- Load and unload materials and maintain organized job sites
- Follow blueprints and basic construction drawings under supervision
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Follow all Texas plumbing codes and OSHA safety requirements
- Provide courteous and professional interaction with customers and team members
- Participate in ongoing training and skill development
