About The Position

The Evening Painter for Mid-Del Public Schools performs painting, surface preparation, and related facility maintenance work during evening hours under the direction of the daytime supervisor to maintain the appearance, safety, and functionality of district buildings with minimal disruption to school operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must clear all necessary criminal and vehicular background checks
  • Must possess and maintain a current Oklahoma license for motor vehicles
  • Must maintain confidential information of a sensitive nature
  • Must be available for unscheduled, emergency calls
  • Shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled emergency situations
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out tasks assigned by the Supervisor associated with preparing, painting, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces throughout district facilities, including classrooms, offices, cafeterias, gyms, and support buildings.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching drywall, caulking, masking, and applying primers in accordance with district standards and safety procedures.
  • Maintain and properly use painting tools and equipment including brushes, rollers, sprayers, ladders, scaffolding, and related materials.
  • Perform routine touch-up painting and minor wall repairs to maintain the appearance and condition of school district facilities.
  • Safely mix, handle, store, and dispose of paints, stains, solvents, and other hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and district safety requirements.
  • Assist with after-hours maintenance and renovation projects scheduled during evening shift hours to minimize disruption to school operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper cleanup of paint materials, equipment, and debris at the completion of each assignment.
  • Follow work orders, schedules, and instructions provided by supervisors while demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and the ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.
  • Observe and follow all district policies, safety regulations, and security procedures while working in occupied and unoccupied school facilities.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
