About The Position

We are looking to hire a rising P2 pharmacy student to be trained as a nuclear pharmacy technician and eventually advancing to the skills and tasks of a pharmacist. The intern will work throughout the summer, every other weekend during the school year, and during school breaks. If all goes well, we plan to have the student return for the following summer and school year. Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers. Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines; may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy. Licensed. This Apprentice, Nuclear Pharmacy will be trained as a nuclear pharmacy technician and eventually advancing to the skills and tasks of a pharmacist.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited school of pharmacy. Ideally a P2 Pharmacy student
  • 2 - 4 years of work experience preferred
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to lift containers weighing up to 75 pounds. 20 pounds on a regular basis
  • Flexibility to work various days, schedules and hours as needed
  • Ability to use computers and tablets

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in preparing and dispensing radiopharmaceuticals in keeping with the prescription and Company, State and Federal regulations
  • Assisting in providing follow up service to the client or health care provider as needed
  • Assisting in assaying medications to determine identity, purity and strength
  • Assisting in performing white blood cell labeling
  • Ordering and checking in inventory
  • Verifying physical inventory with computer records
  • Maintaining lab equipment by performing checks and tests on a regular basis
  • Performing other duties as required to insure a safe and efficient pharmacy operation
