About The Position

This position is for a rising P2 pharmacy student who will be trained as a nuclear pharmacy technician and eventually advance to the skills and tasks of a pharmacist. The intern will work full-time throughout the summer, every other weekend during the school year, and during school breaks. The company plans for the student to return for subsequent summers and school years if performance is satisfactory. The role requires flexibility to work different days, schedules, come in early or stay late, and work overtime based on business needs, including overnight shifts (midnight to 8:30 am) with notice. Nuclear Pharmacy operations at Cardinal Health are responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of pharmacy services for various healthcare facilities, including acute care hospitals, retail customers, and oncology/cardiology practices. This department provides radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under strict State and Federal guidelines and may consult with physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe use of radioactive drugs.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record
  • Minimum of 18 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicle
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to lift containers weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds on a regular basis
  • Flexibility to work various days, schedules and hours as needed
  • Ability to use computers and tablets
  • Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility
  • Maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications
  • Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues
  • Works with limited supervision
  • Work occasionally involves review of output by work lead or supervisor

Nice To Haves

  • Ideally a P2 Pharmacy student
  • 2 - 4 years of work experience preferred
  • May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments

  • May provide general guidance or technical assistance to less experienced team members

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in preparing and dispensing radiopharmaceuticals in keeping with the prescription and Company, State and Federal regulations
  • Assisting in providing follow up service to the client or health care provider on an as needed basis
  • Assisting in assaying medications to determine identity, purity and strength
  • Assisting in performing white blood cell labeling
  • Ordering and checking in inventory
  • Verifying physical inventory with computer records
  • Maintaining lab equipment by performing checks and tests on a regular basis
  • Performing other duties as required to insure a safe and efficient pharmacy operation
