We are looking for a knowledgeable and dependable Apprentice Millwright who will be responsible for performing required preventative maintenance on mechanical systems and components while ensuring compliance of all safety policies and operating practices.

Requirements

  • Registered as an Apprentice Millwright, preferably as a second-year apprentice.
  • Valid Alberta driver's licence and clean drivers abstract.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the role including lifting, climbing, working in confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and a proactive safety mindset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliability and accountability.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and expand knowledge base.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a concrete, aggregate, construction materials, or heavy industrial environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is an asset.
  • Experience with rigging, hoisting, and lifting equipment is ideal.
  • Basic welding or fabrication skills considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Journeyman Millwrights in the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of concrete production machinery and equipment including conveyors, mixers, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as directed, including lubrication, inspections, and component replacements.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and assist in troubleshooting equipment failures to minimize production downtime.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals to support repair and installation work.
  • Fabricate, align, and fit mechanical components including shafts, couplings, bearings, and seals.
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, and precision measuring instruments safely and correctly.
  • Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific protocols at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Perform general plant labour as required.
  • Champion RMC safety culture by wearing PPE, attending safety meetings, identifying and reporting hazards, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
