This position involves a 24-month apprentice program focused on the repair and maintenance of various vehicle systems. The apprentice will learn about suspension, brakes, exhaust, fuel systems, drive lines, steering, heating, lighting, electrical distribution, battery and charging system replacement, cooling systems, and vehicle signage. Responsibilities also include moving vehicles as needed, assisting journey persons, preparing written reports, and performing other vehicle maintenance duties. Additionally, the role may involve repairs and maintenance of buildings and grounds as directed. The program is designed to train individuals in the essential functions of vehicle repair and maintenance. Experienced mechanics may be accepted into the program or advance at an accelerated rate based on performance and committee recommendation.
