About The Position

Apprentice Meat Cutters prepare and cut meat and other products for sale, helping ensure customers receive fresh products presented to their requirements. They provide exemplary guest service, support the Meat Lead and the Meat Team, and help promote guest loyalty and store success. The role focuses on understanding and exceeding customer needs, building customer relationships, and contributing to a supportive team environment while developing skills and potential for leadership.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• No high school diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to cut meat into smaller sizes for packaging and sale.
• Learn to prepare ground meat by putting coarse ground meat through a grinder and then tray the meat.
• Accurately record and assist with preparation of special orders.
• Assist in maintaining meat cooler and freezer efficiency by unloading deliveries.
• Learn and follow code-dating procedures.
• Follow procedures that help the store meet out-of-stock percentage goals.
• Wrap and maintain the meat case.
• Rotate products and check code dates to ensure guest safety.
• Provide products and services that meet internal and external customer requirements, and abide by the Company's Guiding Principles, Common Purposes, and Service Credos.
• Prioritize safety for Team Members, guests, and products.
• Greet customers in the department and ensure orders meet their expectations.
• Suggest products to enhance customers’ shopping experiences and demonstrate suggestive selling techniques.
• Learn about food and share food knowledge with fellow Team Members and customers.
• Learn and retain current work methods.
• Handle products and equipment according to food-safety and safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floors, and maintain sanitation for a clean and safe work environment.
• Participate in and promote an environment that embraces diversity, inclusion, and respect for Team Members, customers, vendors, and the community.
• Support the Meat Lead and contribute to the success of the Meat Team.
