This position offers a career opportunity to receive apprentice training in performing installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and above ground power distribution. Responsibilities include operating line trucks and heavy equipment, stringing lines, troubleshooting power distribution equipment, splicing cables, repairing transformers, conducting voltage and amperage checks, and performing general labor. The role also involves assisting in emergency calls, making customer connections/disconnections, informing the public of outages, repairing street lights, and trimming trees. The Journey Line Worker performs similar duties with a focus on constructing, maintaining, and repairing all transmission and distribution electrical systems. The role requires a strong commitment to a four-year apprenticeship program, including attending classes and potentially working on-call rotations.
