About The Position

Blue Ridge Energy is seeking an Apprentice Line Technician III or higher to join their team. This role is part of a structured training and progression program designed to develop skilled, safety-driven, and knowledgeable line technicians who deliver reliable power and outstanding service. The position involves hands-on work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the electric distribution and transmission system.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of three years of cumulative line work experience for Apprentice III (more for higher classification).
• Strong knowledge of line work practices, equipment, and safety standards.
• Ability to work outdoors in all conditions and respond quickly to outage situations.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL), safe driving record, D.O.T. physical, and ability to pass all required screenings.
• Commitment to teamwork, continuous learning, and delivering excellent service to our members.
• Must live in the service area of work center where employed or within a 30-minute drive of the work center office.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Line Technology preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine work on secondary and primary voltages on energized lines under supervision.
• Learning to install transformers, reclosers, capacitors, and voltage regulators.
• Operating and maintaining aerial bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other line equipment.
• Assisting in substation and underground distribution system work.
• Building confidence in reading system maps, specifications, wiring diagrams, and electrical codes.
• Practicing and modeling strict safety standards in every task.
• Supporting outage restoration efforts in all weather conditions, day or night.
• Performing on-call duty and timely response to outages, both routine and major.
