About The Position
Kennametal is an industrial technology leader with over 85 years of experience, providing productivity solutions through materials science, tooling, and wear-resistant products. They serve customers in aerospace and defense, earthworks, energy, general engineering, and transportation. This specific role is for a Clipper/Packer Summer Intern on the 1st shift, working Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3 pm. The intern will work under the supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, with assignments reviewed daily. The position requires completion of basic math, blueprint reading, and gauge-reading training, as well as the ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
Requirements
- Completion of basic math training.
- Completion of blueprint reading training.
- Completion of gauge-reading training.
- Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-operation checks for individual machines and work areas.
- Perform safety inspections for individual machines and associated equipment.
- Operate clipper or pack station at optimal level to meet or exceed established daily production rates.
- Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements, including labels, piece count, and containers.
- Support functions and process shop orders to meet established due dates.
- Track and problem-solve materials used and ensure efficient equipment use to reduce cost.
- Manage Work-In-Progress (WIP) and components (hardware, clips, washers, buckets, boxes).
- Perform cycle counts as specified.
- Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties.
- Perform daily required Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on associated equipment.
- Perform daily required 5S activities for the work area.
- Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics.
- Accurately and timely record required data, such as production and quality information.
