As an NDT Assistant, you help ensure critical infrastructure—including pipelines, pressure vessels, and structural steel—is safe and reliable. You work alongside certified NDT Technicians to inspect materials using non-destructive methods such as radiography, ultrasound, and dye testing. The role involves traveling to job sites, which may include plants, pipelines, or industrial facilities, sometimes early or overnight. You prepare and set up inspection equipment, assist technicians during inspections by taking readings, holding sensors, or applying test materials, follow safety procedures, and help tear down equipment, document results, and clean up after inspections. Work takes place outdoors or in industrial environments and may involve long periods on your feet and physically demanding tasks. PROtect describes this position as an entry point to a career in non-destructive testing, with potential advancement to Level II or III NDT Technician, testing specialist, Team Lead, Regional Inspector, Project Manager, or QA/QC roles. The company offers training and certification support, advancement opportunities, and travel and relocation opportunities.
