About The Position

The Diesel Technician provides accurate and efficient service by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a reasonable and responsible manner, consistent with company and industry standards. The role involves working in a team-oriented environment focused on exceeding customer expectations, communicating repair plans, completing work safely and efficiently, and maintaining a clean and safe workplace. The technician may recommend other TravelCenters of America services during customer inspection reviews.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
Ability to meet the requirements for the needed physical tasks, with or without accommodation.
Investment in own tools.
Works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

Provide great customer service in a fun, trusting work environment and strive to exceed customer expectations.
Perform diagnostic testing and interpret the results.
Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
Maintain the safety of customers and employees.
