About The Position

As a member of TravelCenters of America’s Truck Service team, the Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic provides accurate, efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The role focuses on delivering professional, accommodating service and helping return travelers to the road. The technician works with the Truck Service Associate or Manager when diagnosing wear conditions and making recommendations to customers, completes repairs within their capabilities, understands Truck Service Standard Services and specialized customer programs, and follows safety guidelines. Work may take place indoors and outdoors in changing seasonal conditions.

Requirements

Good verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a repair or parts shop is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide professional, accommodating service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Understand the products sold and services provided.
Diagnose wear conditions and, together with a Truck Service Associate or Manager, make recommendations to customers.
Complete repairs within the employee’s capabilities and as written.
Understand Truck Service Standard Services and specialized customer programs.
Follow safety guidelines and report potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers.
