About The Position

TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to provide accurate and efficient service by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a responsible manner and in accordance with company and industry standards. The role involves working in a service-focused team environment, completing repairs safely and efficiently, and helping maintain a clean and safe workplace. Technicians may recommend other TA services to customers during inspection reviews.

The position requires willingness to learn through education and training, ability to work independently, and readiness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in both interior and exterior conditions. The employee must be able to meet the physical requirements of the role with or without accommodation and invest in their own tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer's technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job with or without accommodation.
• Investment in own tools.
• Works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret the results.
• Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
• Help maintain the safety of customers and employees.
