About The Position

TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to provide accurate and efficient service by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers within company and industry standards. The role involves performing diagnostic tests, interpreting results, preparing repair plans, and communicating those plans to Service Advisors. Technicians are expected to complete repairs safely and efficiently, maintain a clean and safe work environment, recommend other TA services during inspection reviews, and help protect the safety of customers and employees. The position requires flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, and work in interior and exterior conditions. Team members are expected to invest in their own tools and may expand their professional knowledge through education and training.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
Ability to work unsupervised.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
Ability to meet the requirements for the needed physical tasks, with or without accommodation.
Investment in own tools.
Works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results.
Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
Maintain the safety of customers and employees.
