About The Position

In partnership with the Appraisal Supervisor, the Senior Property Appraiser will plan, organize, and supervise appraisal operations responsible for assessing properties in Washington County. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to impact our rich and dynamic community by providing a variety of technical and lead experience utilizing the highest professional standards to gain the public’s confidence and trust. In recent years, we have taken significant steps toward modernizing our operations, including the unveiling of a new property tax system to create a better, more convenient way of managing the county’s files and documents and safeguarding our information. The Senior Property Appraisers serve as leads in assigning property appraiser projects and overall operations of assigned program areas. This role supports the Residential unit. The Senior Property Appraiser is the advanced level classification in the Property Appraiser series. Positions at the level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility, complexity of duties assigned, and lead worker responsibility. Positions in this classification interact extensively with industry professionals, conduct research, perform market analysis, and apply independent judgment in decision making.

Requirements

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a field of study related to, quantitative analysis; AND two (2) years of work experience in property appraisal, real estate, or a field performing quantitative analysis.
  • OR Possession of an Associate Degree in Business Administration or a field of study related to quantitative analysis; AND four (4) years of work experience in property appraisal, real estate, or a field performing quantitative analysis.
  • OR Seven (7) years of work experience in property appraisal, real estate, or a field performing quantitative analysis.
  • Possession of a current registration as a qualified Property Appraiser from the State of Oregon Department of Revenue (ORS 308.010), at the time of appointment.
  • Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.
  • The incumbent must pass a criminal background check.
