Under limited Supervision, the Appraisal Specialist is responsible for providing customer service and helping to meet individual and store Appraisal Buy goals. This role involves establishing rapport quickly with all types of customers, demonstrating confidence in the CarMax appraisal process, and effectively communicating both in-person and over the phone to discover customer motivations for selling their car and follow up with those still deciding. The specialist serves as an advocate for CarMax, sharing what makes it the smart choice, and facilitates steps of the appraisal process, such as discovery, delivering appraisal offers, and overcoming objections. The position requires the ability to cope with pressure and difficult situations, maintaining a positive and energetic experience for every customer. Additionally, the specialist must maintain a working knowledge of CarMax products, appropriately transition customers to the proper team if additional opportunities are discovered, and accurately input data for appraisal offers. Seeking out opportunities for self-development, participating in training, and acting on feedback are expected. The role operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring a high level of energy to engage with multiple customers per hour, and involves building and maintaining strong relationships and demonstrating excellent teamwork, including the ability to follow up and re-engage with customers.
