About The Position

This position serves as the first point of contact for patients, setting the tone for their experience. Appointment Schedulers are responsible for performing a variety of functions, including taking phone calls, communicating messages, registering and scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance, ensuring patient data is accurate, and scanning and uploading patient information to patient's electronic chart. This position is expected to work in a team atmosphere to provide excellent customer service in a professional environment. This position will be located at our Lee's Summit location.

Requirements

  • Must enjoy interacting with people; be able to relate well to a variety of personalities and have strong verbal communication skills.
  • A self-motivated individual who can work well with interruptions, understands the need to be precise with information gathering tasks and is able to convey instructions effectively.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of insurance companies and the specifics of the different plans is preferred.
  • Understanding of medical software, such as Epic, strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Understanding the revenue cycle including insurance payers, billing, and collections is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Portray a positive practice image and engage in professional and friendly communications with patients.
  • Answer incoming patient calls, communicate messages as appropriate, and make patient appointments according to each physician's standardized template.
  • Advise callers regarding practice, payment/cancellation policies and pre-authorization requirements as appropriate.
  • Enter accurate patient demographics into Epic, the medical software system.
  • Scan and index documents/reports into patient charts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respect for patient rights.
  • Meter all outgoing mail/sort and distribute throughout the office.
  • Perform any other job duties that might be requested by the doctors or management to help the office run efficiently.
