About The Position

Our team is part of Amazon’s Personalization organization, a high-performing group that leverages Amazon’s expertise in machine learning, generative AI, large-scale data systems, and user experience design to deliver the best shopping experiences for our customers. Our team builds large-scale machine-learning solutions that delight customers with personalized and up-to-date recommendations that are related to their interests. We are a team uniquely placed within Amazon, to have a direct window of opportunity to influence how customers will think about their shopping journey in the future.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of building models for business application experience
  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing
  • Experience in designing experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Unix/Linux
  • Experience in professional software development

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and development of new AI technologies for personalization.
  • Adopt or invent new machine learning and analytical techniques in the realm of recommendations, information retrieval and large language models and fine-tuning models.
  • Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product partners locally and abroad.
  • Inventing, experimenting with, and launching new features, products and systems.
  • Solve real-world problems by getting and analyzing large amounts of data, generate insights and opportunities, execute experiments, and develop statistical and ML models.
  • Influence stakeholders with clear communication skills.
  • Innovate on behalf of the customer and strategically build features.
  • Mentor junior members and help them grow.
