About The Position

Under the direction of the Program Supervisor or designee, the Community Health Worker works as an integral member of behavioral/mental health programs within Genesee Health System. Work occurs in a variety of venues and locations, including but not limited to schools, healthcare facilities, community agencies, group and individual settings, community events, and canvasing. This individual will use the Community Health Worker model, as well as other evidence-based crisis and trauma support methods. Provides education, training, and support to children and families as well as makes referrals for other needed services and supports. Work regular schedule with some night and weekend hours.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 25 semester hours of college in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Human Development or related fields OR holds a current Registered Behavior Technician credential in good standing with the BACB (must submit proof of credential).
  • Must successfully complete the online College of Applied Human Services ABA Fundamental course (30 hours) as provided by the agency OR produce documentation of current RBT credential within the first 6 months of employment to maintain employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and use of a vehicle during working hours.
  • Ability to physically perform the tasks.
  • Ability to visually assess details at both near and far distances, as well as to perceive depth and spatial relationships.
  • Ability to receive and respond to verbal communication.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to regularly stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk at a minimum of 35% up to a maximum of 65%.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, or reach.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, including the use of hands and fingers for handling, grasping, typing, writing, or operating equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with children that have special needs.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Human Development or related fields or currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program with the above credits completed.
