Skylo Technologies•Mountain View, CA
•$170,000 - $185,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Skylo is seeking an entrepreneurial software engineer to explore how agentic AI can create new capabilities and business opportunities across telecommunications and connected systems. This hands-on, zero-to-one role combines agentic AI, identity, service discovery, and network technologies. The engineer will investigate emerging opportunities, develop technical approaches, and rapidly build prototypes that demonstrate business value. The role is hybrid and requires regular in-office presence at Skylo's Mountain View, California location.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on software engineering experience and demonstrated ability to independently design and build working systems.
  • Experience building applications using LLMs, agentic frameworks, tool calling, or multi-agent architectures.
  • Familiarity with identity, authentication, authorization, service discovery, or distributed systems.
  • Ability to learn and apply emerging protocols such as MCP and A2A.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to navigate ambiguous, open-ended problems.
  • Experience rapidly developing prototypes, proof-of-concepts, or early-stage products.
  • Solid backend development skills in Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Understanding of APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architectures.
  • Curious, experimental mindset and ability to connect technical possibilities with business opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with agent identity, verifiable credentials, decentralized identifiers, or agent registries.
  • Background in enterprise identity, IAM, SSO, OAuth, or zero-trust security.
  • Experience in telecom, 5G core, NTN, network APIs, IoT, or network equipment.
  • Experience at an early-stage startup, research lab, or advanced technology team.
  • Contributions to open-source projects involving AI agents, identity, or agent protocols.
  • Experience taking an experimental project from concept through customer or partner validation.
  • Advanced degree in AI, computer science, networking, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Explore emerging applications of agentic AI across telecommunications, identity, discovery, and network services.
  • Identify business opportunities and translate ambiguous ideas into technical experiments and working prototypes.
  • Design and build agentic AI systems using LLM orchestration, tool integrations, and emerging agent communication protocols.
  • Apply enterprise identity and security concepts, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, SSO, and zero-trust architectures, to emerging agent ecosystems.
  • Develop proof-of-concepts, APIs, services, and demonstrations to validate technical approaches.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs across AI agents, identity infrastructure, cloud services, and network systems.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to assess feasibility, commercial relevance, and product development opportunities.
  • Help establish architectural patterns and technical foundations for promising prototypes.
