About The Position

The Kinetic Effects Business Area, within the Leidos Defense Sector, has an opportunity for an Applied Aerodynamics Engineer to work at our Huntsville, AL campus supporting design and analysis of missile and aviation systems. The position requires the applicant to apply analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles. The employee will also support aerodynamic design trade studies, performance assessments, testing, and development of high-fidelity aerodynamic characterizations of flight vehicles.

Requirements

• MS degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering and 0+ years of aerospace applied aerodynamics experience.
• Demonstrated capabilities in programming languages Python or Matlab.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate constructively within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Willingness to try and learn new skills, and to refine existing skills.
• Must be a US citizen and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
• Must be a resident of the North Alabama area, or willing to relocate, to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL campus.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with industry-standard aerodynamic prediction tools and experience in wind tunnel testing.
• Prior experience with computational fluid dynamics.
