About The Position

The Kinetic Effects Business Area, within the Leidos Defense Sector, has an opportunity for an Applied Aerodynamics Engineer to work at our Huntsville, AL campus supporting design and analysis of missile and aviation systems.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 3.25 and 2+ years of experience, OR a Masters degree in Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in programming languages Python or Matlab.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate constructively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Willingness to try and learn new skills, and to refine existing skills.
  • US citizen and possess the ability to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
  • Resident of the North Alabama area, or willing to relocate, to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industry-standard aerodynamic prediction tools.
  • Experience in wind tunnel testing.
  • Prior experience with computational fluid dynamics.

Responsibilities

  • Apply analytical and semi-empirical aerodynamic prediction tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles.
  • Support aerodynamic design trade studies, performance assessments, testing, and development of high-fidelity aerodynamic characterizations of flight vehicles.
