Under the supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent performs chemical and fertilizer applications on the golf course. The Applicator is responsible for reading, understanding and keeping current with the product label and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). This position is also responsible for compiling preliminary reports of pesticide usage for the Golf Course Superintendent. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to: Perform routine safety inspections on all spraying equipment. Maintain chemical storage and mixing areas in compliance with county, state and federal regulations, overseeing the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers. Apply herbicides, insecticides, nematicides and fertilizers in a safe manner, following label recommendations so as not to harm the environment, animals and humans. Report weed and insect problems to the Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. Train employees on the proper use of pesticides. Communicate with the Golf Course Superintendent on inventory levels. Clean and maintain application equipment.
