About The Position

Stewart McKelvey is seeking an Applications Systems Analyst to join their Information Technology team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time, permanent position. The role involves managing a portfolio of applications and firm-wide systems, including planning, analysis, guidance, administration, upgrades, and troubleshooting across Windows desktop, Server, and Citrix platforms. The Applications Systems Analyst will be a key technical resource responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, customization, and ongoing support of enterprise applications and firm-wide systems. This includes overseeing the daily operations of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), troubleshooting, implementing upgrades, scheduling deployments, maintaining operating system images, managing endpoint security updates, and generating reports. The successful candidate will maintain subject matter expertise, conduct root cause analysis, and provide recommendations. They will also evaluate, test, and integrate new software, upgrades, and imaging processes, identify opportunities for workflow and system efficiency improvements, and collaborate with users, IT teams, and external consultants to design and implement solutions based on business requirements. Additional responsibilities include supporting project management, coordinating tasks, resolving technical problems, managing system vulnerabilities through patching, and overseeing software licensing and compliance. The role also requires thorough documentation of systems, processes, and configurations, adherence to security policies, and contribution to broader IT initiatives.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in Information Technology.
  • A minimum of five years of experience maintaining and supporting Windows desktop environments, network applications, and Windows Server systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hands-on experience using MECM and Intune for application deployment, operating system delivery, endpoint analytics, and ongoing maintenance and support.
  • Ability to write PowerShell scripts and SQL statements.
  • Prior experience in software evaluation, integration, testing, and distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key technical resource for the installation, configuration, testing, customization, and ongoing support of enterprise applications and firm-wide systems.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), including troubleshooting, implementing upgrades, scheduling deployments, maintaining operating system images, managing endpoint security updates, and generating activity reports.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise across assigned applications and system environments.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on technical issues and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new software, upgrades, and imaging processes, including hardware drivers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows and system efficiency.
  • Analyze complex business requirements and collaborate with users, IT teams, and external consultants to design and implement effective solutions.
  • Support project management efforts.

  • Manage system vulnerabilities through patching.
