About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC. Services that NCDIT provides reach a client base of state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges and universities. NCDIT’s mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians. NCDIT provides technology services to state agencies and is charged with closing the digital divide by expanding availability of broadband services and promoting the adoption of affordable, high-speed internet. This position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act. This position may be eligible for hybrid remote work in accordance with state policy and the agency’s remote work program but does require weekly onsite work. Any telework will be under the conditions of the state Teleworking Program Policy and the employer may end any teleworking arrangement at any time in the employer's sole discretion. The primary purpose of Enterprise Business Services (EBS) within the Department of Information Technology - Transportation is to provide the full spectrum of information processing services and support for the Department of Transportation (DOT). This position is staffed to Enterprise Business Services an IT competency center whose mission is to provide a comprehensive DOT Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system utilizing SAP software. Under the direction of an IT manager, this position will provide leadership, technical guidance, and direction to other team members on the Enterprise Business Services (EBS) Development Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in application consulting or development OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and six years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience performing application development in a large-scale SAP software environment including reviewing and analyzing user requests, requirements gathering, estimating, applications analysis and design, debugging, testing, implementation, documentation, and support for appropriate programs and systems
  • Experience in independently managing priorities, project timelines, resources, staff, and implementation efforts
  • Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications with users, peers, management, and professional staff

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform a full range of advanced analytical and technical activities, utilizing the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Perform complex analysis, design, programming, testing and support on requested modifications and enhancements to all the SAP related modules and their processes
  • Write highly complex requirement documents, detail design documents, technical specifications, and test scripts
  • Manage the completion of change requests from initiation through completion and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
