About The Position

Morris Great Lakes, a division of Morris Group, Inc., supplies CNC machine tools, tooling, accessories, software, automation, and more to manufacturers of precision machined parts in western New York, western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. As an Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, designing, and installing machinery or equipment in an industrial environment using advanced computer systems and engineering knowledge. This role involves pre-sale activities, customer visits, machine assessments, part processing recommendations, and developing turnkey proposals. You will also be responsible for cost estimates, engineering reports, programming and setting up CNC lathes, mills, and developing custom demonstrations and customer training.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Machine Programming and Set-Up Experience
  • Fanuc Control Experience
  • Mitsubishi Control Experience
  • CAM Programming Experience
  • G&M Code Programming Experience
  • Tolerance for travel and overnight stays (Home/Customer Sites -> 80/20 split)
  • Willingness to be trained into other machines beyond our flagship lines, Okuma & Tsugami.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year Technical Degree in Manufacturing Technology
  • Okuma/Tsugami Experience

Responsibilities

  • Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations and development of turnkey proposals
  • Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Programing and setting up CNC lathes, CNC vertical or horizontal mills
  • Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and/ or multi-tasking machines
  • Possessing and maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company
  • Perform related duties as required
