About The Position

Skylo is pioneering a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity, enabling direct connection of smartphones and IoT devices to satellites without special hardware or new networks. Their direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents. The core of their technology is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. This role offers the opportunity to work on technology that matters in the mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT sectors, enabling connectivity in remote places.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in the Telecommunication / Chipset / Module industry
  • In-depth expertise in LTE, VoLTE, NAS, and SMS call flows with a proven ability to perform detailed analysis of modem logs and PCAP traces for troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Knowledge of key network elements, including RAN, Evolved Packet Core (EPC) / 5G Core, and packet/signal gateways.
  • Strong command of foundational networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and ICMP.
  • Solid understanding of device-level interfaces and protocols for both LTE and IoT ecosystems across various consumer operating systems.
  • Skilled in Python and shell scripting for automation, diagnostics, and development tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in analyzing and configuring network parameters related to latency, RF conditions, and timing to ensure optimal performance.
  • Fluent daily AI user — you draft, summarize, research, and debug with AI tools without being prompted. You bring your own judgment about when AI output is good enough and when it needs review.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical advisor for partners from the initial concept phase, guiding OEMs on critical design choices for satellite network performance and commercial viability.
  • Provide deep, hands-on technical support throughout the development lifecycle, guiding partner engineering teams in developing & integrating firmware and software.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues by analyzing device logs and providing expert guidance on cellular network signaling and protocol behavior to resolve integration challenges swiftly.
  • Forge strong technical partnerships with device and module makers, providing expert guidance on hardware integration and software development.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of cellular modules and satellite network architecture to ensure seamless device operation on the Skylo Network.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison to drive the development and support cycles with manufacturers to ensure their products meet network requirements efficiently.
  • Architect and implement standardized processes for critical operations, including device onboarding, SIM provisioning, and network visibility.
  • Develop clear guidelines, documentation, and tools to streamline partner integration and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a key technical authority who excels at cross-functional collaboration, working seamlessly with Product & Engineering.
  • Translate complex satellite and cellular network concepts into actionable requirements and clear external communication.
  • Drive the development of self-service tools and resources (e.g., knowledge bases, diagnostic utilities) to empower partners and customers.
  • Actively establish and manage channels for collecting partner feedback, ensuring their insights are systematically incorporated into product and service enhancements.
