About The Position

This role involves executing strategic and day-to-day engineering activities for the Connectors team, supporting the existing and growing customer base in North America. The Applications Engineer will manage daily engineering activities, processes, and technical inquiries, serving as a source of expertise for the business, colleagues, and customers. This position requires close collaboration with various Freudenberg (FFL) teams to identify customer technical challenges and develop effective solutions, demonstrating strong analytical problem-solving skills. The role also involves performing New Product Development (NPD) activities, including calculations, design reviews, engineering evaluations, and adherence to best practices to ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical expertise to support the introduction and expansion of existing HIC products into new markets. Travel will be approximately 10%, but could vary based on demand.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of practical engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably with pressure-containing connections (e.g., flanges, piping systems, or subsea connections).
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate highly complex concepts, anticipate potential objections, and influence senior-level stakeholders to consider alternative viewpoints.
  • Results-driven, with the ability to establish, monitor, and effectively manage the achievement of technical objectives.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, NORSOK, and API, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of metal-to-metal sealing products preferred.
  • Working knowledge of buoyancy system products preferred.
  • SolidWorks CAD skills.
  • Working knowledge of Mathcad is advantageous.

  • Interface directly with customers who are recognized subject matter experts within their industries.
  • Perform New Product Development (NPD) activities, including calculations, design reviews, engineering evaluations, and adherence to best practices to ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the introduction and expansion of existing HIC products into new markets.
