About The Position

Silvus Technologies, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is seeking an Applications Engineer-I to join their Sales Engineering team. This role involves technical activities related to applications/solutions engineering, customer support, and sales support. The engineer will work with customers and the sales team to drive product development and enable cutting-edge systems. Responsibilities include defining and testing new products/features, providing technical support, performing technical analysis and systems integration, and engineering solutions to complex problems. The position requires collaboration with internal Engineering teams and involves up to 25% travel, both domestic and international. This role is based at Silvus Technologies' headquarters in West Los Angeles, CA, with a hybrid schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite per week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with flexibility for other days as needed).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent degree in relevant STEM field).
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to details.
  • Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
  • Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
  • Successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio frequency and data network test equipment and testing.
  • Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
  • Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
  • Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
  • Experience with testing embedded radio communication systems.
  • Familiarity with Linux.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
  • Define new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field trials for new product features and accessories.
  • Provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in person.
  • Participate in an off-hour, on-call support rotation to address critical customer escalations.
  • Work individually and with Engineering teams to support requests via in-house or through field testing and validation.
  • Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
  • Support the Sales Engineering team by helping prepare for demonstrations, training, testing, or recreating bugs and issues seen in the field.
  • Create and maintain customer-facing documents and content including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc.
  • Oversee and assist the RMA and Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
  • Travel up to 25% to provide in-person engineering support to customers and the sales team, including demos, troubleshooting, system integration, and training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
