About The Position

WesTech is seeking an Applications Engineer 1 or 2 to support estimation efforts and proposal creation for Water Treatment projects. This role involves bidding water treatment plants with various equipment, compiling sales-level engineering documentation for construction bids, and collaborating with vendors. Successful candidates are typically highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at working with diverse individuals. This position is part of WesTech’s rentals and plant operations estimating team. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and this position does not offer sponsorship or relocation assistance. Candidates may be subject to pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks and drug/alcohol tests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Biological, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) or core science / math degrees with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Entry level position.
  • Willingness to travel (up to ~25%).
  • Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of chemistry and physics.
  • Proficient in computer applications and time management.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow through and work well in a team.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2+ years of related experience or prior internship experience in a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Prior sales experience preferred.
  • May be required to be clean-shaven for proper fitting of respiratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Review and/or create specifications from contractors and engineers.
  • Develop equipment specifications for customers and fabricators.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review documentation, including technical drawings and P&IDs.
  • Organize, prepare, and review Water Treatment proposals.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Perform and interpret basic project-related calculations.
  • Respond to technical clarifications from customers.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager and Sales Agent to develop sales strategies.
  • Conduct technical sales presentations with customers.
  • Work with various vendors and interdepartmental applications engineers.
  • Communicate project scope and details to Project Managers and Designers.
  • Conduct peer review of bids.
