About The Position

The Applications Engineer 2 evaluates customer requirements and prepares quotations for nVenia product lines, with responsibility for accurate budgeted costs and field sales support. The role works independently with some oversight and supports customers and sales by developing equipment concepts and configurations that meet specified requirements. The position reviews requests for quotations, custom specifications, and sales requests; determines whether nVenia can provide a solution; assesses customer order specifications against nVenia products; and develops machine configurations, conceptual designs, layouts, package configurations, and production-rate calculations. It prepares professional proposal documents and collaborates with engineering, product management, sales, production, and supply chain teams on requirements, designs, labor hours, and material costs. The role also supports project kickoffs, field sales, and understanding equipment usability and capabilities across multiple product lines.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
Solid knowledge of manufacturing and engineering processes.
Applications engineering or sales engineering experience in an engineering capacity, including design and/or quoting, required.
Technical writing experience preferred.
Experience with AutoCAD.
Proficiency in Word and Excel.
Critical and creative thinking.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with different departments and customers.
Strong organizational skills.
Technical aptitude.
Solid understanding of multiple nVenia product lines.

Responsibilities

Review and understand customer requests for quotations, custom specifications, and sales requests.
Determine whether nVenia has a solution for a customer’s request for quotation.
Read customer order specifications and compare them with nVenia products to determine the best fit.
Visualize and create initial customer concepts by matching equipment to customer specifications.
Design machine configurations to identify equipment that satisfies request-for-quotation needs.
Create conceptual quotation layout drawings using AutoCAD.
Determine package configurations and calculate production rates, space, and flow to satisfy customer needs.
Present proposed equipment concepts to engineering and validate the concepts.
Quote a variety of product lines.
Consult with product managers and engineers regarding customer-specific requirements.
Consult with production managers regarding labor hours and with supply chain regarding material costs.
Analyze historical cost data to project costs based on nVenia’s manufacturing methodology.
Produce professional, accurate proposal documents in a best-in-class format and concept.
Work with engineering, product management, and sales to understand nVenia’s competitive advantages and new designs and incorporate them into written proposals.
Work with engineering on successful project kickoffs.
Develop solutions with sales to satisfy customer requirements.
Support field sales through travel or internal customer support as required.
Run equipment on multiple product lines to understand usability and capabilities.
