About The Position

Ingredion is seeking an ambitious student for a summer internship in their R&D team. As the Customized Formulations Applications & Development Intern, you will support new product development and create customer-valued solutions. This role involves developing and preparing food formulations and prototypes on a pilot plant and lab benchtop scale, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices. You will also conduct research, support customer requests, perform analytical testing, and document findings in technical reports under manager guidance.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred
  • Must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment
  • Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
  • Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day
  • Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
  • If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hands-on food concept development with laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment is a plus
  • Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports

Responsibilities

  • Operating laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision to support project needs
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work environment; following guidelines for good housekeeping and safety
  • Managing work project(s) to meet project timelines and deliverables
  • Analyzing and understanding data, results and scientific literature to advance projects
  • Working collaboratively with Customized Formulations team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectives
  • Performing laboratory experiments, conduct data analysis and interpret results to make recommendations to project team and support the project
  • Presenting prototypes, project status, updates and outcomes to team and key stakeholders
  • Making presentations and writing technical reports
