About The Position

The Applications Analyst – Epic Research & Dorothy reports to the Assistant Manager, Epic Applications. This position is responsible for advanced support, troubleshooting, maintenance, design, build, testing, implementation, and optimization of Epic Research, Epic Dorothy, and related applications supporting clinical research and home-based care. The role partners with research investigators, study coordinators, clinicians, home health leaders, field-based caregivers, revenue cycle, compliance, information services, and Epic/vendor stakeholders to support secure, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered workflows. Key areas of responsibility include research study records, clinical trial enrollment and documentation, study calendars and questionnaires, research billing dependencies, home health episodes, scheduling, care plans, clinical documentation, mobile workflows, orders, regulatory requirements, reporting, application reliability, and cross-application integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or clinical license, preferred.
  • Epic Research and Epic Dorothy certification required.
  • Four to six years of clinical, research, home health, operational, or healthcare applications experience as an applications analyst supporting multiple modules or applications, with direct experience in Epic build, testing, implementation, troubleshooting, and optimization strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting Epic Research and Dorothy workflows is preferred, including research study records, participant enrollment, clinical trial documentation, study calendars, questionnaires, reporting, home health episodes, scheduling, care plans, mobile documentation, orders, billing dependencies, interfaces, and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research and home health operations, application dependencies, testing methodologies, integration workflows, change control, privacy and regulatory requirements, and coordination with research, clinical, revenue cycle, compliance, technology, data, reporting, and operational teams is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Epic certification or proficiency in Ambulatory, Comfort, Home Health Billing, Resolute, Cogito, Clarity, MyChart, or related integrated applications preferred.
  • Clinical or research certification is preferred when applicable to the candidate’s background.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Epic Research and Epic Dorothy functionality, including research study records, participant enrollment, clinical trial documentation, study calendars, questionnaires, reporting, home health episodes, scheduling, care plans, orders, clinical documentation, mobile workflows, billing dependencies, interfaces, and downstream impacts across the enterprise
  • Lead research, home health, clinical, operational, compliance, revenue cycle, internal information services, and Epic/vendor partners in developing enhancements, optimization initiatives, and workflow improvement projects for Epic Research and Dorothy
  • Oversee Epic Research and Dorothy application design, build, configuration, maintenance, and validation to ensure functionality aligns with research operations, home health care delivery, patient safety, regulatory, revenue cycle, and end-user requirements
  • Perform complex analysis, build, implementation, and optimization of workflows supporting research study intake, participant identification and enrollment, clinical trial documentation, study calendars, questionnaires, home health referral and intake, episode management, scheduling, care planning, field documentation, orders, and interdisciplinary coordination
  • Configure and maintain research study records, recruitment tools, documentation templates, SmartTools, questionnaires, reporting requirements, home health Navigators, flowsheets, visit and scheduling workflows, care plans, order preferences, and related application records in accordance with approved governance and change-control processes
  • Meet regularly with investigators, research coordinators, clinical leaders, home health clinicians, field-based caregivers, compliance, privacy, revenue cycle, and operational teams to evaluate workflow concerns and identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, documentation integrity, data quality, and user experience
  • Lead coordinated testing for Epic Research and Dorothy, including unit, regression, system, integrated, interface, research enrollment, clinical documentation, home health scheduling, mobile and field workflows, orders, billing, reporting, and user acceptance testing
  • Serve as an application and workflow resource by translating clinical research, home health, regulatory, operational, and business requirements into reliable system solutions
  • Coordinate interfaces and integrations with clinical trial management, research billing, identity and consent, reporting and analytics, mobile documentation, scheduling, revenue cycle, and other connected clinical and enterprise applications
  • Provide mentorship for team members and assist with analyst training, workflow education, and knowledge transfer, as needed
  • Ensure programs and services support applicable human-subject research, informed-consent, privacy, security, Medicare, payer, home health, quality, Joint Commission, CMS, and organizational governance requirements
  • Ensure the safeguarding of protected health information, research data, participant information, and appropriate application access
  • Maintain accurate application documentation, build records, test scripts, workflow diagrams, issue resolutions, security requirements, and support materials
  • Monitor help desk software for new tickets; troubleshoot complex research and home health application issues; perform root-cause analysis; and document timely, sustainable resolutions
  • Lead Epic Research and Dorothy projects, upgrades, enhancements, optimization efforts, go-live activities, testing, stabilization, and ongoing maintenance initiatives
  • Identify and lead opportunities to standardize and improve research enrollment, documentation, data collection, reporting, home health referral, intake, scheduling, field documentation, care coordination, billing, and compliance workflows through application optimization and process improvement
  • Adhere to all information services policies, procedures, application governance, change-management, and documentation standards
  • Participate in on-call support and lead incident response, issue resolution, and downtime procedures for assigned applications, as needed
