About The Position

Supports core functions of EMC applications to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position will implement, administer, and support assigned systems under the minimal guidance of senior members of the team. The position will have a thorough understanding of their assigned applications, ancillary systems, and health system operations. This position independently addresses issues and design decisions of moderate to high complexity with little or no supervision and delivers clear communication and documentation of complex concepts and issues related to applications, interfaces, data structures, and workflows across the organization. Provide project management and selection guidance for new applications. Provide analytical assistance to junior team members to resolve application incidents, maintenance items, and enhancement requests. Coordinate application support with other information technology teams including Sys Admins, DBA, Networking, Reporting, and the help desk. Implement changes using documented procedures that are compliant with department's policies and procedures. Provide solutions to work orders, trouble tickets and projects for assigned departments. Work with and mentor junior staff members to document workflows. Serve as Project Manager for major projects.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree or experience in lieu of degree
  • Certification(s) required for those positions supporting an Epic application
  • Five (5) years in healthcare related positions
  • Previous system analyst or vendor experience
  • Experience using healthcare applications
  • Experience working in an acute healthcare setting or vendor setting
  • Proven experience in project managing major projects
  • Ability to actively engage in complex discussions, often on challenging subjects
  • Ability to analyze and highly complex systems and workflows
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan, organize, coordinate and manage the work of a major program or function within the department(s)
  • Ability to handle confrontation with appropriate grace, professionalism, cordiality, and firmness, and manages/resolves disputes appropriately
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relations with peers, users and vendors
  • Ability to teach/train other clinical staff

Responsibilities

  • Participates on committees and in meetings where issues affecting departments and/or patient care are discussed.
  • Identifies and assists with planning for and developing departmental-specific requirements for future product acquisitions.
  • Follows PMO guidelines on all projects, utilizes PMO tools provided to manage and communicate project tasks and issues.
  • Updates all open service requests on a weekly basis and communicates updates to the requestor on a weekly basis.
  • Accurately and promptly analyzes user-requested programming changes, documents requests, and facilitates communication between users and IS Systems Analyst staff per change control policy.
  • Works with vendors to determine, review and document acceptance of system changes.
  • Utilizes excellent time and project management skills as well as organizational and personal skills to work with a variety of people.
  • Performs written and oral project status reporting on a regular basis as assigned.
  • Works as lead team member and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ensures that e-mail and voice mail indicates when unavailable with alternative contact when out of office.
  • Assumes administrative tasks to support management as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
