About The Position

This is not your typical engineering role. You will work directly with contractors and customers, get into real applications, shape practical BAS/HVAC solutions, and help build a fast-growing program with meaningful income upside. Setpoint Systems is investing in the growth of our Smarts & Parts Program, and we are looking for a technical seller who wants more ownership, more customer interaction, and more upside. You will become a trusted resource for mechanical contractors, service companies, controls contractors, and building owners—helping them move from an application challenge to a practical, engineered controls solution. You will have the freedom to develop opportunities while being backed by an experienced team. The result is a role where you can sell with credibility, deliver real value, and build a book of business that rewards performance.

Requirements

  • Hands-on knowledge of BAS/HVAC controls, mechanical systems, and commercial building applications.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment schedules, control diagrams, points lists, and sequences of operation.
  • Working familiarity with controllers, sensors, relays, transformers, actuators, I/O, wiring, field devices, BACnet, Modbus, and BAS networking concepts.
  • The communication skills to translate technical details into clear business value for contractors, facility teams, and decision-makers.
  • A sales mindset: curious, responsive, organized, comfortable asking for the business, and disciplined with quotes, pipeline activity, and follow-through.
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated results matter more than a specific degree. HVAC, controls, mechanical contracting, estimating, application engineering, or technical sales backgrounds are all worth a conversation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow contractor and customer relationships through site visits, application discussions, demonstrations, lunch-and-learns, showcase events, and proactive follow-up.
  • Qualify incoming opportunities and determine whether each application fits a standard package, semi-custom solution, or custom-engineering path.
  • Review mechanical drawings, equipment schedules, control diagrams, points lists, wiring requirements, and sequences of operation.
  • Build practical BAS/HVAC solutions for RTUs, FCUs, heat pumps, unit heaters, VAV/VVT systems, ventilation systems, small hydronic systems, and mini-BMS applications.
  • Support quotes for controller packages, bundled controls materials, accessories, subscriptions, training, and technical support services.
