About The Position

The admissions office at Stetson University is seeking talented, creative, committed and clear-minded professionals to fill the role of temporary application readers. The reader will review student applications and make admissions offer recommendations for first year students. The role will last anywhere between 4 and 6 months and is part time with 15-20 hours per week beginning in October and lasting no later than March. To avoid conflicts of interest, the following will not be considered: Parents/guardians of a high school junior or senior Athletic coaches who work with or recruit high school athletes Others who currently work with high school students, including high school staff and faculty, independent consultants, staff at Community Based Organizations, or individuals who work at standardized testing or test prep organizations. Employees at another undergraduate institution.

Requirements

  • Readers must be able to grasp material quickly, read carefully, and consider applications thoughtfully and objectively, while providing thorough summaries.
  • Knowledge of admissions processes
  • The ability to navigate a CRM is essential.
  • Understanding and the use of Zoom and/or Teams for training and staff meetings.
  • Comfortability working at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment committed to high standards of performance and ambitious goals for growth and institutional development.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and foster collegial relationships
  • Strong computer skills and experience with database management.
  • Understanding that all time spent on task and associated activities will be managed and monitored by via computer systems and supervisor.
  • Must be able to work varied hours: regular hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with appropriate accreditation.
  • Prior professional experience in admissions, recruitment, education, school counseling or related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing high school transcripts and calculating GPA’s.
  • Interpreting SAT, ACT, and CLT scores for admission.
  • Reading essays and letters of recommendation.
  • Understanding engagement in high school and translating activities to like-campus experiences at Stetson.
  • Recommends applicants for admission, academic scholarship and potential premier program opportunities such as; Honors Program, Environmental Fellows, Presidential Fellows, Business Fellows, Law Ready, National Science Foundation, Sullivan Creative Arts Awards, among others.
  • Updates records in Slate as required.
