Application & Integration Developer (Contract)

Business Network Consulting, Ltd.•Denver, CO
•$125 - $150•Remote

About The Position

Business Network Consulting (BNC) is seeking a senior, hands-on developer to design, support, and extend custom applications, data integrations, and automation solutions for small-to-medium-sized business clients. This developer-first consulting role involves taking ownership of business-critical line-of-business solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. Work includes maintaining existing deployments, improving reliability and documentation, troubleshooting vendor and legacy-system dependencies, and delivering new solutions that create measurable client value. The successful candidate will combine technical depth with clear communication, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple client priorities. They will work directly with client stakeholders and vendors, collaborate with BNC systems engineers, and mentor engineers supporting automation and development-adjacent work. The position is a part-time contract role offering 10–15 guaranteed hours per week, with an opportunity to convert to full time after six months. It is remote and associated with Denver, Colorado. The stated hourly rate for billable scope work is $125–$150. The posting also lists administrative and project-management time, including meetings, at “$100?”; the rate is unclear as written.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience with software development, database programming, coding, and scripting.
  • Strong production experience.
  • Strong relational database skills, including AWS RDS, SQL Server, Azure SQL, T-SQL, data modeling, ETL, and database troubleshooting.
  • Experience building and supporting API integrations using technologies such as REST, OAuth, JSON, XML, and SOAP.
  • Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and GenAI application design, including multi-step workflows, agent architectures, tool integrations, and conversational experiences—not merely operating AI tools.
  • Ability to evaluate and work across multiple AI and development platforms, selecting practical tools based on client requirements rather than relying on a single ecosystem.
  • Experience supporting business-critical applications and integrations across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
  • Ability to understand and maintain solutions spanning multiple languages, platforms, vendors, and legacy systems.
  • Experience with source control, structured testing, deployment practices, and production support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organization, ownership, and independent problem-solving within defined policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to support occasional after-hours or weekend work when a production issue or deployment requires it.

Nice To Haves

  • Client-facing consulting or professional-services experience.
  • Application development experience with one or more of C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node, React, Java, PHP, C++, VB/VBA, HTML/CSS, or comparable languages.
  • Cloud development and integration experience with Azure, AWS, and/or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with deployment strategies such as container instances, containers, functions, static web apps, and serverless storage types.
  • Knowledge of data and credential security, including passwordless methods, managed identity, key vaults, secrets, keystores, and the Principle of Least Privilege.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GDPR, PII, HIPAA, SOC2, SOX, and other compliance environments.
  • DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containers, or microservices-based architectures.
  • Deep experience with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams, Power BI, Entra ID, Azure AI services, Exchange, and Intune integrations.
  • ERP, financial-systems, CRM, HR platform, business-intelligence, or data-warehouse integrations.
  • Security tooling and practices, including secrets management, least-privilege access, logging, monitoring, and secure data transfer.
  • Experience building AI-enabled business solutions with Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude, or comparable GenAI platforms, including agentic patterns, workflow orchestration, and integrations with business data and applications.
  • Relevant Microsoft AI, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Azure, AWS, database, security, networking, or DevOps certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance production applications and integrations supporting core client operations.
  • Design and build data pipelines, ETL processes, database interfaces, views, stored procedures, and reporting integrations.
  • Develop automation, workflow, and integration solutions using PowerShell, Python, application code, APIs, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint Agents, task schedulers, and services.
  • Integrate cloud platforms, SaaS products, vendor systems, and legacy applications using REST, OAuth, JSON, XML, SOAP, and related technologies.
  • Support secure handling, transformation, and delivery of sensitive business data, including data covered by regulation or personally identifiable information.
  • Analyze unfamiliar codebases and production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes with appropriate testing and change controls.
  • Document source code, architecture, dependencies, credential requirements, deployment procedures, monitoring, and support runbooks.
  • Work directly with client stakeholders and outside vendors to gather requirements, explain options, set expectations, and coordinate delivery.
  • Estimate work, define milestones, and manage multiple development and support priorities through BNC project-management processes.
  • Collaborate with BNC systems engineers on infrastructure, cloud, identity, security, networking, and deployment requirements, ensuring solutions meet data-privacy, governance, and responsible-AI standards.
  • Mentor engineers who support automation and development-adjacent work, and contribute to technical standards and reusable practices.
