Application & Engineering Manager
About The Position
The Applications & Engineering Manager leads a team of Applications Engineers to drive technical excellence, project execution, and revenue growth. This is a player coach role—developing people while staying actively engaged in key opportunities and customer interactions. Success in this role means stronger execution, higher win rates, and deeper penetration within our Top 5/Top 10 accounts. Requirements
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in industrial automation or related field
- Leadership experience in a customer-facing environment
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop Applications Engineers
- Set clear expectations around urgency, responsiveness, and technical quality
- Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews
- Build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Oversee project flow from concept → quote → execution
- Ensure accuracy in scoping, quoting, and delivery
- Identify and remove roadblocks early
- Drive consistency in engineering and quoting processes
- Support and engage in high-value and strategic opportunities
- Partner with Sales on Top 5/Top 10 account growth
- Help position value-driven, engineered solutions
- Protect margin through strong technical and commercial alignment
- Serve as escalation point for complex applications
- Maintain expertise across key automation technologies
- Ensure solutions align with Ramco standards and partner capabilities
