About The Position

General Kinematics, a manufacturer of vibrating equipment and process systems for the foundry, recycling, mining, aggregate, and food industries, is seeking an Application Engineer in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The successful candidate will drive design development in accordance with company standards and customer specifications. The position involves regular communication with customers and internal functional organizations, and supports projects from proposal development through project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical design skills and ability to read and lay out mechanical drawings.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD, 3D solid modeling, or other drawing software is desired; CATIA, Inventor, and AutoCAD skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner proactively with contract sales, component sales, systems, engineering, and project management to provide customers with competitive and accurate proposals.
• Develop new designs to meet customer or marketing specifications.
• Document designs in the appropriate format and according to company or customer standards.
• Provide guidance to manufacturing, engineering, and customer service throughout the life of a project.
• Process inbound requests for quotations from the company’s sales team.
• Prepare and issue written quotes to customers.
• Enter orders for all contract jobs into the CRM system.
• Process and perform development project testing.
• Accompany sales personnel on field measurements and/or attend customer meetings.
• Provide guidance and status updates to customers and relevant internal departments and sales representatives for contracted jobs.
• Support the company’s ISO objectives, GK WAY, policies, and procedures.
