Application Engineer

About The Position

This role is responsible for supporting Soundwich's success by evaluating new opportunities, estimating manufacturing costs and timelines, and collaborating with engineering and production teams. The Application Engineer will interact with customers, assist in product release, and troubleshoot equipment. They will also be responsible for training operators on resistance welding and laser cutting equipment, and performing metallographic inspections. A strong understanding of company procedures, quality policies, and environmental and safety regulations is essential.

Requirements

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Mechanical Design knowledge
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Strong leadership and teamworking skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Vision (corrected or uncorrected) to AWS D17.2 Section 4.4.1.1
  • AWS Resistance Welder Technician certification
  • Minimum language skills: English
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in using CAD software

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new opportunities and assess the Company’s ability to manufacture products that meet Customer requirements
  • Use Customer drawings to estimate material costs and manufacturing time
  • Analyze techniques and alternative methods, and recommend changes to equipment or procedures
  • Support Engineering and Production teams in the design, build, testing, and installation of finished products as needed
  • Interact with Customers while developing product estimates and closing business
  • Receive, review, and document Customer Specifications and Testing procedures as needed
  • Assist with Tech Review slides as needed
  • Attend Tech Reviews/other Customer engagements as required
  • Plan and complete DVP&R Testing as needed
  • Support the release of products into production
  • Trouble-shoot Aerospace Resistance Welder Equipment
  • Train Operators on the safe operation of Aerospace Resistance Welder Equipment
  • Programming and operation of Laser Cutting Work center using applicable software
  • Train Laser Cutter Operators
  • Demonstrated Aerospace Resistance Weld Metallographic inspection following successful completion of Aerospace Resistance Weld Metallographic Training
  • Demonstrated Aerospace Resistance Weld Destruct Tester
  • Understand and follow all Company Procedures and work instructions pertaining to assigned tasks, and the potential consequences of departure from these Procedures
  • Knowledge of the Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, all Company Policies, and the importance of conformance to Soundwich and Customer requirements
  • Knowledge of the effects that nonconforming products have on our Customers
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Policy, Environmental Objectives, all Safety Polices, and the importance of conformance to Soundwich and Regulatory requirements
  • Aware of the Quality impacts of their work activities, their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance within the Quality System and the benefits of improved personal performance
  • Aware of the Environmental and Safety impacts of their work activities, their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance within the Environmental and Safety System and the benefits of improved personal performance
  • Aware of how to submit Quality, Safety, Environmental and Business-related questions or suggestions, and how to initiate continual improvements
  • Other tasks deemed necessary by Soundwich Management Team to be in the best interest of Soundwich and our Customers
