About The Position

The Application Engineer supports application designs on the product line. The role manages new application design projects and customer requirements, coordinates designs with Design Engineering, and provides technical support to manufacturing, quality, Product Managers, Marketing, distributors, regional sales managers, and customers. The engineer evaluates vendor bids and customer technical specifications, writes equipment specifications, and coordinates with Operations to confirm quoted products are viable. The position also develops project plans, communicates project changes and progress, responds to customer service requests, and maintains a clean, organized, safe work area in accordance with 6S practices. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering; BSME, BSIE, or BSEE required.
• One to two years of related experience required.
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Access required.
• Excellent knowledge of ERP software.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information, and develop alternative solutions.
• Travel, including driving and overnight stays, is occasionally required.

Nice To Haves

• Hydraulic experience preferred.
• Experience in the fluid power industry and/or a manufacturing environment preferred.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Fluid power certification or willingness to obtain it is desired.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects for new application designs and customer requirements.
• Interact and coordinate designs with Design Engineering.
• Provide technical training to manufacturing and quality staff.
• Write technical specifications for equipment.
• Evaluate vendor bids and analyze and interpret technical requirements in customer inquiries and specifications.
• Provide support to Product Managers.
• Coordinate with Operations to ensure quoted products are viable.
• Provide Marketing with technical support for sales inquiries, equipment applications, and engineering analysis.
• Develop and coordinate project plans and communicate changes and progress.
• Respond promptly to customer requests for service and assistance.
• Develop effective relationships with distributors, regional sales managers, and customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
