About The Position

As an Application Engineer, Project Management, you will be part of the Stanley Engineered Fastening's Automotive division, supporting the Self-Piercing Rivet (SPR) product line as an on-site employee. This role involves supporting new business development managers in evaluating customer-specific applications, conducting technical presentations to educate customers on SPR rivet joining capabilities and design for these technologies, and working with customers to specify SPR equipment into their programs, ensuring requirements are met through final implementation. You will also manage order entries, update BOMs for equipment products, oversee engineering programs for on-time completion, develop solutions using digital virtual simulation, apply engineering principles to development processes, manage programs from concept to design buyoff, and assist sales and marketing with product training and applications. Responsibilities include expertise in fastened joint requirements (design, application, failure modes, test, and repair), fastener designs, materials, and plating. You will drive joint development projects for new materials and products, develop and maintain guidelines for joining and fastening processes, participate in product development from inception to release, provide SPR product and process expertise, and manage large or critical projects.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of project management or related experience in project execution
  • Highly self-motivated, customer advocate, innovative with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience in automotive or similar industries
  • Bachelors degree preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation products, robotics or electro-mechanical products preferred

Responsibilities

  • Field Support new business development managers in evaluating customer specific applications.
  • Participate in technical presentations to educate and train customers about SPR rivet joining capabilities and how to design products for use with these technologies.
  • Works with customers to specify SPR equipment into their programs and ensures that customer requirements are met through final implementation.
  • Ensure order entries are assigned and processed in a timely manner.
  • Updates and ensures the accuracy of BOM's for equipment products.
  • Oversee engineering programs to ensure on-time completion.
  • Develop solutions using complete engineering analysis through digital virtual simulation.
  • Applies engineering principles and lessons learned to every development process.
  • Manage programs from concept to design buyoff to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assists, supports and communicates with sales and marketing in product training and applications.
  • Fastened joint requirements - design, application, failure modes, test and repair processes.
  • Fastener designs, material, plating, etc.
  • Drive joint development projects to establish joining methodologies for new materials and products.
  • Develop and maintain successful practice and guidelines for all joining and fastening processes.
  • Participate in product development from inception through product release.
  • Provide self-piercing rivet product and process expertise.
  • Manage large or critical projects and ensure timely completion of such.
