About The Position

As an Application Engineer, you will serve as a critical technical resource within the Wright-Patterson AFB and Defense Health Agency IT infrastructure. You will design, develop, and implement business applications using current technologies and architect solutions in SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) and Windows SharePoint Service (WSS). You must have knowledge in the administration, configuration and customization of SPS and be able to architect and develop technical solutions from business requirements, as well as be able to take current business rules and provide improvements. You will be required to present and defend technical solutions and designs to clients, and you will develop design documents.

Requirements

  • Clearance Level: T3 investigation
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalency.
  • IAT II (required) and Computing Environment (CE) if privileged access is required for lab, test or production environments.
  • Four (4) years of progressive experience demonstrating the required proficiency in addition to the degree.
  • Eight (8) years of progressive experience without a bachelor's degree.
  • SharePoint Online: General familiarity with the platform, site creation, and list management.
  • Basic Programming Concepts: Understanding of fundamental logic (variables, switch statements, conditionals).
  • Active Directory: Familiarity with permission management and user groups.
  • JSON: Basic familiarity (highly useful for SharePoint list/column formatting).

Nice To Haves

  • Power Apps / Power Automate: Experience building basic forms and workflows (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements business applications using current technologies and architect solutions in SharePoint Portal Server (SPS) and Windows SharePoint Service (WSS).
  • Designs and implements security systems and redundant backups to maintain data safety.
  • Presents and defends technical solutions and designs to clients.
  • Develops design documents (i.e., technical specification documents, functional requirement documents, and object modules, system test plans).
  • Writes custom scripts to reduce the need for human intervention and create automated solutions for the enterprise.
  • Establishes multi-platform versions of the software package, and write tests for existing and created code to ensure compatibility and stability.
